Dr David C. Smith is Coordinator, Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD) and Director, Centre for Environmental Management (CEM). He is among the Independent Group of Scientists preparing the UN Global Sustainable Development Report to be published in 2019. He is also Caribbean Coordinator, UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UNSDSN).
Dr Smith has worked at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Jamaica Country Office (2002 to 2008) and was responsible for Energy, the Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Management.
He also has extensive experience in academia, civil society, and the private sector on Sustainable Development, Biodiversity Conservation, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Reduction. He leads in the UWI's project developments on sustainable development research, distance teaching, knowledge management, disaster risk management and hazard mapping.
