Shawn Fuller
Director of Negotiations and Servicing with the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union
Shawn Fuller has worked as the Director of Servicing and Negotiations with NSGEU, the largest public sector union in Atlantic Canada, since 2014. Mr. Fuller played an important role in the recent development of Nova Scotia's Councils of Healthcare Unions. The Councils combined 25,000 members from four different acute healthcare unions in Nova Scotia for the purpose of conducting collective bargaining. Mr. Fuller was also the chief negotiator for the first collective agreement for the 7,000-member strong Council of Healthcare Unions and the Deputy Chief Negotiator for the 8,000 members in the Council of Nursing Unions in Nova Scotia.
Mr. Fuller grew up on a family farm in Avonport, just down the road from Acadia University. He was a journalist for many years before becoming involved in provincial politics in 1997 as a researcher and later director of research and communications for the Nova Scotia NDP. Mr. Fuller was the Director of Campaign Communications in the 2009 provincial campaign that saw the historic election of Atlantic Canada's first NDP government. He has assisted in campaigns in several provinces and at the federal level. Mr. Fuller worked in the Premier's Office as the Director of Communications and Senior Advisor on Labour Relations for Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter from 2009 until 2012.
Mr. Fuller is heavily involved in sports having played for 16 seasons in the province's senior baseball league. More recently he has acted as a coach and board member for several sporting organizations including helping coach the 2017 Nova Scotia women's fastpitch team.
Mr. Fuller lives in Dartmouth, with his wife Maria Cain, and their two daughters Chloe, 18, and Lillian, 14.
