Emerging Leaders' Dialogues Canada is fortunate to have HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, as the President of our organization. The Princess Royal graciously accepted the position of President of the Commonwealth Leadership Development Conferences in June 2011 upon the retirement of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh who has assumed the role of Patron. Since then, she has participated in numerous ELD Canada events, including accompanying participants on experiential dialogue tours, providing feedback on group presentations, and as the Guest of Honour at the annual President's Council Recognition Dinners.
The Princess Royal, the second child and only daughter of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, was born at Clarence House, London, on 15 August 1950, when her mother was Princess Elizabeth, heir presumptive to the throne.
The Princess Royal started undertaking public work at the age of 18, and has since established significant and ongoing relationships with over 300 charities, organisations and military regiments across the Commonwealth making her one of the busiest working members of the Royal Family.
Her Royal Highness has been President of Save the Children UK since 1970, and has been closely involved with the creation of several charities, notably The Princess Royal's Trust for Carers (now Carers Trust), Transaid and Riders for Health. Having competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games as a member of the British equestrian team, The Princess Royal is able to bring insight and experience to her role a British member of the International Olympic Committee.
